Professional Dental cleanings and exams
When it comes to maintaining good dental health, oral hygiene, and a stunning smile, nothing is more important than regular teeth cleanings and gum treatments.

We understand that the best way to fight tooth and gum problems is to prevent them from occurring in the first place. The Dentists on Pearl utilize a wide array of dentistry knowledge and the latest technology to provide the routine dental cleanings and specialized treatments each patient needs.

Periodontal Therapy Procedures
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease or periodontitis, is a bacterial infection that inflames the soft tissue around your teeth and becomes more severe if left untreated. Over time, gum disease will erode the bone that supports your teeth, leading to tooth mobility and loss.

Depending on the stage of progression, gum disease causes red, swollen, tender, receding, and bleeding gums, periodontal pockets, halitosis, pus-filled abscesses, gapping, and changes in bite. When prevention is no longer an option, especially in the later stages when damage is permanent, nonsurgical and surgical treatments are available to reduce the effects of gum disease.

Gum Disease Treatments
Treatment is always going to be dependent on the stage of gum disease. There are many options available, both nonsurgical and surgical.

Nonsurgical Treatments
Antibiotics: Oral antibiotics, either in pill or topical form, may be enough to fight off infection.

Scaling and root planing: Similar to a routine dental cleaning, SRP cleans much deeper. Anesthesia will need to be used to numb your gums while your dental hygienist cleans away bacteria underneath your gum line and smooths the tooth roots to prevent further plaque and bacteria from accumulating beneath your gum line. Your hygienist will then use a diode laser to disinfect periodontal pockets (the space between your gums and jaw bone).

Night Guards
Bruxism is the act of clenching or grinding your teeth. There are many different reasons for bruxism including stress, anxiety, misaligned teeth, and sleep apnea. The effects of grinding can be significant causing teeth wear, fractured teeth, bone loss, TMJ pain and dysfunction, headaches, neck pain and more. Night guards (occlusal splints) help relieve symptoms and prevent damage.
Sealants
The most likely location for a cavity to develop in your child’s mouth is on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. The deep and varied crevices in these teeth make it easy for food particles to hide, and it can be difficult to keep these teeth clean, even with regular brushing. Your child’s dentist might recommend sealants to prevent cavities and prevent the need for more extensive dental treatments in the future.
Fluoride treatments
We deliver a unique varnish that dries to a non-tacky coating that is seven to forty times thinner than traditional varnishes, contains hypoallergenic, food-grade shellac vs. traditional varnishes, and is hydrophilic, so it flows further across and between the teeth than traditional varnishes.

Tooth Replacement
Crowns & Bridges
A crown is a full cover restoration used to safely protect and restore the original shape and size of a damaged tooth. This procedure typically takes two visits. Dental crowns may be made from several different types of materials, ranging from gold to tooth colored material such as porcelain or ceramic.
Dental Implants

One of the most remarkable advances in dentistry are dental implants. A dental implant allows you to replace a missing tooth or anchor a prosthesis using a titanium post that is placed in your jawbone. Implants are a great alternative to a bridge or a flipper. Implants can also be used to replace your removable appliance or to anchor your denture or partial, dramatically improving the fit and chewing ability.
Implant dentistry
We offer implant placement and restoration including single tooth replacement, as well as implant over dentures.

Tooth Fillings
A composite or resin is a tooth colored filling that is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc.  The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then a composite filling will be placed.
Crowns

Teeth whitening

Over time, stain-causing foods and beverages, smoking, and thinning enamel can dim the brightest smile. If you are feeling self-conscious about your teeth, your dentist can help you discover the whitening treatment that is best for you.

At-home Whitening
Home treatments can be helpful in reducing surface stains. These methods are less expensive than in-office whitening, but, because they can’t offer the strength of professional whiteners, they aren’t as effective, and they usually require several weeks of daily application.

Whitening Strips
These flexible plastic strips come in two sizes, to fit both upper and lower teeth, and are coated on one side with a thin film of peroxide-based gel. The gel-side of each strip is positioned on the front of the teeth and gently pressed into place. The strip needs to adhere to each tooth completely to ensure even whitening, and shouldn’t touch sensitive gum tissue to avoid irritation. The strips are usually recommended for use twice a day, for 30 minutes each time. Total treatment time can vary from several days to several weeks.

Stock Gel Trays
Gel tray whitening systems provide a mouthguard-like appliance that is filled with whitening gel and placed over the teeth. Trays can come pre-filled with gel or with individual gel applications in syringes. Stock trays aren’t always a perfect fit, and it’s important to make sure the whitening gel doesn’t contact the gums and other soft tissue in the mouth. Use time will vary with different manufacturers.

While all these whitening methods can brighten your smile, there are some circumstances which make a professional whitening your best option. Professional whitening agents are more powerful and can help eliminate darker stains which over the counter (OTC) products can’t remove. For those with deeper or darker staining, or for those who would like to see immediate results, in-office whitening is the best choice.

In-Office Treatment
An office whitening treatment is generally faster, more effective, and lasts longer because dentists use gels with a higher concentration of peroxide than those gels found in OTC products. Your dentist will examine you first to make sure your teeth and gums are healthy, protect your surrounding gum tissue and mouth during the procedure, and monitor treatment throughout. Office whitening usually takes from 60-90 minutes.

Custom Gel Trays
Custom trays created in the dentist’s office are an option for those who want to use a whitening gel at home. Professionally crafted trays will fit your teeth perfectly and allow a more precise application of the peroxide gel, which will also be provided. Custom trays can require about two weeks of use for maximum whitening.

Some teeth are not good candidates for typical whitening procedures at home or in-office. If you have deeper discoloration caused by trauma or medications taken during tooth formation, or if you have dental bonding, veneers, crowns, or bridges which are darker than your natural enamel, talk to your dentist to decide which whitening treatment or cosmetic procedure is the best option to achieve your brightest smile.

It’s always important to use a desensitizing toothpaste for 2 weeks prior to beginning any whitening.

Gingival Re-contouring
If your gums rest on your teeth too high or too low or are uneven, you may be a candidate for gingival re-contouring. Using our gingival laser we can gently and aesthetically reshape the gum tissue around your teeth.
Veneers
Your smile is your best accessory. Porcelain dental veneers can completely transform the look of your teeth. They can help chipped, fractured, stained, uneven, worn, and spaced teeth.Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are specifically designed and fitted over your teeth to improve the appearance of your smile in typically two visits.
Cosmetic Bonding
Bonding can repair a broken or chipped tooth, help improve tooth color, or close gaps between teeth. It’s an alternative option to porcelain veneers and allows patients to revisit their cosmetic concern at a later date when they are ready for a permanent dental veneer.
Lip & Tongue Tie Releases

A frenectomy is a simple and quick procedure to remove the frenulum or muscular tissue under your lip or tongue. Dr. Evans uses a new technology, the light scalpel, which is a conservative CO2 laser to treat lip and tongue ties. Effects of a lip and/or tongue tie begins as a newborn leading to difficulty latching while breastfeeding. As a child these ties can cause speech impediments, mouth breathing, reflux, spacing and misaligned teeth. The effects continue into adulthood contributing to sleep apnea, TMJ concerns, and more.

CO2 lasers are unique in that do not generate heat but instead vaporize the tissue with ultra precision. Our laser does not burn or damage the tissues but turns the water molecules to steam and erases the tissue with minimal or no bleeding, with a greater degree of control.

Supportive materials:

Therapeutic Botox

Not only is Botox used for preventative and anti-aging cosmetic purposes, but it can also be used therapeutically for specific medical conditions.

If you are experiencing pain in your temporomandibular joint (TMJ), BOTOX® may be able to help to relieve some of your discomfort. When it is injected into the appropriate areas of your facial muscles, it can relieve much of the tension that you feel. BOTOX® can help to reduce headaches, tension, and pain caused by clenching or grinding teeth as well as severe jaw strain.

BOTOX® is a controlled form of botulinum toxin that has been used medically for decades in the treatment of muscle spasms and pain. When injected into spasming or damaged muscles, BOTOX® prevents unconscious movements that can lead to severe pain and slow the healing process. When used cosmetically, BOTOX® stops the muscle movements that result in fine lines and wrinkles.
